Hey, that's our nut case. Ray managed to kill off alt.sports.gymnastics. (Some people can't resist feeding the trolls.) We've moved to web-based boards, where he can be banned if he shows up. Some gymnastics fans are afraid to mention his name, lest we accidentally call him forth.

The sheer quantity of writing he produces has always made me wonder what he could accomplish if he weren't crazy. The guy is tireless.

I think many if not most usenet groups have someone like this guy.

I've seen some of them take on multiple groups in cross posting flame wars that lasted months.
Dozens of cross linking threads on just as many groups.
Seen them reduce some to tears.

Its kinda funny sometimes.

Right up to the point where it isn't, and the stalking or worse starts.

Its amazing to watch the effort and work they put into these wars.
If only they would channel this effort and work into a force for good.

Won't mention any names lest I summon them forth.

Let us clearly state FOR THE RECORD that we do NOT "hate" Ray. We feel pity for Ray. We feel sorry for Ray. We feel that Ray has a deep-seated problem of some sort, which makes it difficult for him to take responsibility for his actions and words. This site does NOT exist to "attack" Ray. It exists to serve as an independent record of posts that cannot be removed, and to make parody of a PUBLIC FIGURE. We hope that Ray comes to realize that we care about his mental and emotional state, and we sincerely hope he seeks the help we believe he needs.

they kid because they love, apparently.

If all the many Usenet kooks were laid end-to-end...well, um, ahem, yuck.
