it would appear our potholes are so bad that hell sprung a leak

nola_prepared is a satirical city emergency preparedness Instagram account for New Orleans Louisiana (although the official nolaready IG appreciates their different skill sets). Recommended posts: Hurricane season preparations include rescue gators; new hazard signs; a Hell vs NOLA comparison chart; flood warning; the dysfunction of Sewerage & Water Board; the toxic optimism of a happy New Orleanian as told by a marine iguana (do NOT click if you have a fear of snakes, like even a vague unease, unless you have some form of emotional support near you). No Instagram account? You should be able to see a few posts before they cut you off.

NOLA is so fucked up that I don't think the Onion can even ridicule it anymore.

Related: @lookatthisfuckinstreet which has also spawned a PhD thesis at Tulane.

And here I thought the leak was up in Baffin Island.

If you don't have an Instagram account, you can use this Instagram viewer to see posts, but not comments. Enter the name of the IG account in the field and you can view them 12-15 at a time, click on individual pictures to see more. (You should preferably have an ad-blocker and pop-up blocker working, however.)

I live in New Orleans and this is accurate.

Ironically, the streets have never been smoother.

I swear in 40 years I have never lived in a New Orleans with less crime, better streets, and saner police.

To another 40 years! Lol

Yeah, I grew up in LA and went to college in NOLA. A mountain bike was the way to get around because of the potholes. And on road trips you always knew the moment you were out of Louisiana because the interstate suddenly got smooth.

I’m fervent socialist living the dream in Europe now, but I have trouble blaming my relatives for not trusting the government because local government there is so corrupt and unresponsive to community needs :/
