I thought for sure it was going to be a bobcat dressed up in OshGoshB'Gosh overalls and riding a Vespa.

I too would be happy to make friends with a bobcat. Or a calico. Really any feline. Call me, kittens, I am a modern lady with a big bag of frisky bits.

For more cat facts on tumblr, see this post, which is all about why cats cat with science and history.

(Said post successfully taught one of my former roommates that my cat is, in fact, not a dog and will not do dog things)

Now I want a bobcat expansion in Neko Atsume.

Since domestication involves retention of juvenile traits into adulthood, among other things, Big Cat probably sees Little Cat as a young kitten.

I'm not surprised the cat is a calico. They are crazy. Of course a calico would befriend a wildcat. ( yes, I live with a calico )

A+ catting, good work cat.

I have also seen certain special cats have much the same effect on people who were (previously) not equipped to make friends, with similarly excellent results.

So, now I've learned that domestic cats are less intelligent than their wild ancestors, and I imagine this relationship being like the classic feel-good comedy trope where Bobcat is snooty and cerebral but secretly lonely and needs to learn how to love, and Calico is daffy and frankly a bit dim but has a heart of gold and teaches Bobcat to open up.

I find it odd that wild cats are not equpped to make friends but are equipped to appreciate friendship. Wouldn't they get lonely?
Or is it like...they only realise what they've been missing once they experience it?
Or are they just not bothered either way, whatever, a warm body is nice?

Or are they just not bothered either way, whatever, a warm body snack at hand is nice? FTFY

But yes, calicoes are insane. I had a sister pair growing up and they were awesome.

Go ahead and admit it. If you could, you really would like to have a bobcat.

(In no way do I advocate keeping wild animals as pets. But you know, a BOBCAT!)

I want a bobcat and also a Pallas cat and also a Kodkod.

Wild animals as pets is often not a great idea for another, practical reason...most wild animals, especially predators, stink. I don't mean unbathed stink, but some-gland-that-secretes-yuck stink.

I love when zoo animals get buddies like this.

[sniffs] I guess I would make a poor pet.
